The 2017 Summer Season is On! David Belleville Rocks, Roy Cooley Rockets and Rolls.

The first race of the 2017 Summer Season got off to a hard-blowing, 15-mph start, running on Sunday after a Saturday downpour. David Belleville, still hot from his victory in the 2016 Sunfish Cup, was the class of the field on his 'fish, often planing in the rough, wild conditions. Preliminary (seat of the pants) results suggest that David won both races on handicap. Roy Cooley, on his skittish Aero 7, was blazingly fast as well, but a couple tipovers in the first race set him back. Frank Sczerzenie, sailing with his daughter Elizabeth, and Tiff Ford, sailing solo, continued their Flying Scot rivalry, with Ford recovering from a snoozing start in the first race to lead the field on the water at the finish, and playing the shifts to edge out the Sczerzenies in race 2.
